An Architectural Framework for Interactive Music Systems

چکیده
This report introduces the Software Architecture for Immersipresence (SAI) framework to the computer music community. SAI is a software architecture model for designing, analyzing and implementing applications that perform distributed, asynchronous parallel processing of generic data streams. The most significant innovation of SAI is its ability to handle real-time DSP, interactive control, and datacentered representations in a unified model. This generality facilitates the design and implementation of complex interactive systems that combine music analysis, synthesis and on-line control. Two examples illustrate the use of SAI in the design and implementation of interactive music systems: MuSA.RT, a system for real-time analysis and interactive visualization of tonal patterns in music, and ESP, a driving interface (wheel, pedals and display) for creating expressive performances from expressionless music files.

A Framework to Evaluate the Adoption Potential of Interactive Performance Systems for Popular Music
Popular music plays a central role in the lives of millions of people. It motivates beginners, engages experienced musicians, and plays both functional (e.g. churches) and non-functional (e.g. music festivals) roles in many contexts. Forming and maintaining a popular music ensemble can be challenging, particularly for part-time musicians who face other demands on their time. Where an ensemble h...

The main aims of this research are the design and implementation of a multilayered and interactive geomatic map of the cultural heritage of Tuscia, one of the richest and most complex cultural areas of Italy, thanks to the presence of different civilizations, from Etruscans and Romans to the Middle Age. Its cultural heritage is very rich, valuable and above all diversified because including tan...
متن کاملThe Smuse: a Situated Cognition Approach to Interactive Music Composition
The evolution of computer-based music systems has gone from computer-aided composition, which transposed the traditional paradigms of music composition to the digital realm, to complex feedback systems that allow for rich multimodal interactions. Yet, a lot of interactive music systems still rely on outdated principles in the light of modern situated cognitive systems design. Moreover, the role...
متن کاملTowards an Interactive Framework for Robot Dancing Applications
In this paper we present the architecture for a robotic system using a humanoid robot, based on the Lego Mindstorms NXT, which tries to simulate the human rhythmic perception from audio signals, and its reactive behavior in the form of dance. To do so we implemented lowlevel aspects of rhythm perception based on Marsyas, an open source software framework for audio processing. The model’s output...
متن کاملDeep Predictive Models in Interactive Music
Automatic music generation is a compelling task where much recent progress has been made with deep learning models. In this paper, we ask how these models can be integrated into interactive music systems; how can they encourage or enhance the music making of human users? Musical performance requires prediction to operate instruments, and perform in groups. We argue that predictive models could ...
